Maoist rally for release of arrested leader

ANGUL, Aug.17 : Hundreds of CPI (ML) activists from the state and Jharkhand brought out a huge rally at Athmallik town demanding immediate release of their leader, Mr Tapan Mishra from jail.
Mishra was arrested by local police on 30 July following some charges. The procession after going around the entire town, gathered in front of the police station where speakers like Mr Raghunath Padhi, alleged that Mr Mishra has been arrested by the police intentionally as he was raking public issues by staging demonstrations in the locality.
They also charged the police for framing false cases against him for which he was denied bail.
Earlier, there was Athmallik bandh and gherao of the local police station by the local public on the same demand.
Angul SP, Mr Sanjay Kumar Singh is of the opinion that Mishra was arrested in connection with certain criminal cases pending in the local police station for a long time.
