ONGOLE: In a daylight outrage, TDP leader Gottipati Srinivasa Rao of Amannagudipadu village in Yerragondapalem mandal was shot at by CPI (Maoist) activists on Monday evening injuring him critically.

He was rushed to a hospital in Guntur, where he was undergoing treatment.

According to police, around 4.30 pm on Monday, five armed Maoists entered the house of Srinivasa Rao, called him out and opened fire at him and fled away.

Just in a period of 30 days, this is the second incident of Naxalite violence in the vicinity of Nallamala forests.

Earlier, they killed Chia Rangayya, brother of Giddalur MLA Pagadala Ramayya in Banaganipalle village of Racharla Mandal.
