Search for naxals continues in Dharmapuri

Dharmapuri, Dec 21. (PTI) The combing operation to nab the naxals reportedly hidden in the district continued for the second day today.

The team of Special Task Force and Naxal Special Duty personnel led by Superintendent of Police H M Jayaram made thorough search in Kottur hills, 40 km from here.

Speaking to reporters at Kottur hills, SP H M Jayaram said the combing operations were being conducted in the naxal- prone villages and hill areas to nab the suspected naxal leaders Sundaramurthy, Navin Prasad, Chandra and Kalidas.

The operations were conducted at 10 points of the district.

He appealed to the public to inform any movement of strangers and naxals in their area.

He said as the information system was strengthened in villages especially in tribal belt, the movement of any stranger would be known to the police.

The NSD wing had been coordinating with the District Rural Development Agency to carry out socio-economic development programmes in the naxal-prone villages and creating employment opportunities, he added.
