Journalist Arrested

WARANGAL: Former president of Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) Warangal district unit P V Kondal Rao was arrested along with another person for their links with Naxalites.

District police said Mr Rao and Ch Prabhakar were arrested and a huge amount of money meant for procuring party literature and other items for the Maoist, Naxals was seized from them.

According to Ghanapur station circle inspector Muralidhar, a Maoist party member Gajerla Ravi alias Ganesh sent Rs 5 lakh to Mr Kondal Rao, who had been associated with the Naxals for a long time.

He was supposed to hand over the same to Ch Prabhakar, state convenor of Bhumi Commission, residing at Hyderabad.

On credible information, a special police team raided the house of Kondal Rao on Wednesday at China Pendial of Ghanpur Mandal and apprehended the two.
