Another river for sale
If Chhattisgarh had created history with its earlier Congress government giving 22.6 kms of Shivnath River in Durg district on lease four years back to a private company led to bitter struggle against this order by the villagers led by CPI(ML), once again the present BJP government is trying to lease out another river, Maniyari, in Janjgir-Champa district to a private company. People of the locality have opposed this reactionary move. CPI(ML) state committee has denounced this move. It is organising a resistance against privatisation of Maniyari river.
